Why teams move from EZTitles

  1. Review is part of the file

A reviewer sees the exact line, leaves a comment, and asks for changes. The editor sees it in the same project.

  2. No licence for each editor

Each EZTitles editor needs a licence. CaptionsHero charges per organization, and every plan lists its seats.

  3. AI minutes are in the plan

EZTitles bills audio analysis per minute and translation per character from a separate wallet. CaptionsHero paid plans include AI minutes.

No more final_v3_REVIEWED.srt.

Stop passing files around. Edit, review, and approve in one place.

What it costs: CaptionsHero vs EZTitles

Monthly list prices: euros for EZTitles, dollars for CaptionsHero. EZTitles rents one licence per workstation, so team rows count one Essentials licence each.

Team sizeEZTitlesCaptionsHero
1 person€80 (Essentials), or €1,720 onceFree, or $29
Team of 8€640 (8 licences)$149 (Team)
Team of 20€1,600 (20 licences)$399 (Studio)

EZTitles can be bought once, from €1,720. But it lists no assign, review, and approve workflow. CaptionsHero includes it, with email notifications, AI minutes for transcription and translation, a REST API, and Cloudflare Stream and YouTube integration.

EZTitles or CaptionsHero?

Choose EZTitles if

  • You deliver EBU-STL, SCC, DCP, or Netflix Timed Text, and your editors work on Windows.
  • You work offline in a locked-down facility, and your clients ask for a TPN-certified tool.
  • You prefer one lifetime licence per workstation, from EUR 1,720, and you track who has which file yourself.

Choose CaptionsHero if

  • You want one flat price for the team: Team is $149 a month for 8 seats, where 8 Essentials rentals cost EUR 640.
  • Each language needs an assigned editor and reviewer, with request changes and an approve step that EZTitles does not list.
  • Your AI minutes are in the plan, 1,500 a month on Team, with no separate wallet billed per minute.
  • Your reviewers open the video in a browser on a Mac or a PC, with nothing to install.
  • You deliver SRT or VTT and need no broadcast or cinema formats.
  • You want email notifications and one progress view for every project and language.

Common questions

Is CaptionsHero cheaper than EZTitles?

For a team, yes on list price. Eight Essentials rentals cost €640 a month. CaptionsHero Team costs $149 a month for 8 seats. One editor who wants no monthly bill can buy an EZTitles lifetime licence from €1,720. A shared licence pool through its Online License Manager can lower the team cost. We did not convert currencies.

Does EZTitles run on a Mac?

EZTitles lists Windows workstations. Its change log shows fixes for running it in a virtual machine on a Mac.

Can I move my EZTitles subtitles to CaptionsHero?

Yes, if SRT or VTT is enough. EZTitles exports both. Export the file, then import it into CaptionsHero. Styling and positions that SRT cannot hold may be lost.

Can CaptionsHero export EBU-STL, SCC, or other broadcast formats?

No. CaptionsHero imports and exports SRT and VTT only. If you must deliver broadcast formats, keep EZTitles for that last step.

Does EZTitles have a free trial?

Yes. Its trial page lists a 30-day trial of the Ultimate edition. CaptionsHero has a free Solo plan instead of a trial, with no card.

Does EZTitles support team review?

EZTitles has no assign, review, and approve workflow on its pages. It can save labeled revisions and compare a colleague's corrected file against them, and it can share video in encrypted form with EVS. Shared video plays only inside EZTitles.
