How to convert ASS to SRT
Add the ASS file
Drop a .ass or .ssa file into the box. Subtitles inside an MKV video must be extracted to a file first.
Read the result line
The result line shows how many subtitles the tool found. Lines marked Comment in the file are not counted.
Download the SRT file
Click Download. The SRT file has the same name as your ASS file.

Common questions
What do I lose when I convert ASS to SRT?
Fonts, colors, sizes, positions, and effects such as karaoke. The text and the timing stay. Lines that only draw shapes are left out.
How do I convert embedded ASS subtitles from an MKV file?
First extract the subtitle track from the MKV file with MKVToolNix or FFmpeg. Then drop the ASS file here.
Does it work with SSA files?
Yes. SSA is the older version of ASS, and the tool reads both.
What happens to lines that show at the same time?
Both lines stay. The tool sorts the subtitles by start time, so two speakers, or a sign and a line of dialogue, become overlapping subtitles.
Does the tool convert the Comment lines in my file?
No. Lines that start with Comment are skipped.
Can I convert SRT to ASS here?
No. This tool goes from ASS to SRT only.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser. Your subtitle file never leaves your computer.
