Common questions
How do I shift the timing of an SRT file?
Add the file, type the amount in Shift by, and click Shift subtitles. Use seconds such as 2.5, or a timecode such as 00:00:02,500. Add a minus sign to move subtitles earlier.
What should I do if my subtitles are late?
Shift them earlier with a minus sign. Find how late they are by comparing one line with the audio, then type that amount, for example -2.
How do I make a VLC subtitle delay permanent?
The delay setting in VLC belongs to the player. Shift the file here and every player uses the new timing.
Can I shift only part of a subtitle file?
Yes. Choose Subtitles from a time and enter the time in From. Subtitles that start before that time stay where they are.
Why does the tool say subtitles would start before 00:00:00?
The shift is larger than the start time of the first subtitles. Use a smaller shift, or choose Subtitles from a time so the first subtitles stay in place.
How do I turn frames into a shift in seconds?
Divide the frames by the frame rate. 48 frames at 24 frames per second is 2 seconds.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser. Your subtitle file never leaves your computer.
