Common questions
How do I change uppercase to lowercase in an SRT file?
Add the file here, select lowercase, and click Change case. Every letter in the subtitles becomes small. Download the new file.
Can I change all caps to sentence case?
Yes. Select Sentence case. The tool does not know names, so a name such as JOHN comes out as john. Fix those names with the Find and replace tool.
Which letters does Sentence case make capital?
The first letter of each subtitle, the first letter of each dialogue line that starts with a dash, and the first letter after a period, a question mark, or an exclamation mark.
Does it change tags such as <i> or {\an8}?
No. The tool changes the letters that people read. Tag names, colors, and position codes stay as they are.
Does it work for languages other than English?
Yes for any language with capital letters, such as Spanish, Polish, or Russian. Languages without capital letters, such as Japanese and Korean, do not change.
Can I change the case of only some subtitles?
No. The tool changes the whole file. To change one subtitle, edit it by hand in a subtitle editor.
