Common questions
How do I add a delay to subtitles from one point?
Type the point in At and the delay in Length. Subtitles that start at or after that time start later. Earlier subtitles do not change.
What happens to a subtitle on screen at the chosen time?
It stays exactly as it is. Only subtitles that start at or after the time move.
Can I insert more than one gap?
Yes. Work from the end of the video to the start. Insert the last gap first, download the file, and add it again for the next gap. The earlier points keep their times.
Should I use this tool or the subtitle shifter?
Use this tool when only the part after one point changes by a set length. Use the subtitle shifter when you also want to move earlier, or to move all subtitles.
Does Insert gap keep VTT cue settings and notes?
Yes. You get the same format back with the same file name. VTT notes, styles, and cue settings stay in the file.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser. Your subtitle file never leaves your computer.
