How to sync subtitles with another subtitle file
Add both files
Drop the file with the right timing in Reference. Drop the file with the wrong timing in Target.
Check the counts
Two files with the same number of subtitles are matched one to one. For other files, the first and last subtitles set the timing, and the result tells you so.
Download
Click Sync timing, then click Download. The new file has the text and the name of the Target file.
When to use Sync from another file
- The English subtitles are in sync and the German file is late.
- A translator returned a file whose timing differs from the approved source file.
- You found subtitles for your release in another language and need your own timing.
- A language file came from a different cut of the video than the one you play.
- You have a timed file in one language and a translation that was typed without timing.

Common questions
How do I sync subtitles with another subtitle file?
Add the correct file as Reference and the file to fix as Target. Click Sync timing and download the result.
What if the two files have a different number of subtitles?
The tool matches the first and last subtitles of both files and spreads the others between them. The result tells you when this happens. Check a few lines in the middle of the video.
Which file does the text come from?
From the Target file. Only its timing changes, and the download uses the Target file name.
Do both files need to be in the same language?
No. The tool never reads the words, so the files can be in any two languages.
How do I resync subtitles that are not in sync with the audio?
If you have a good file in another language, use it here as the Reference. If you do not, use the subtitle shifter or Fix drifting subtitles and enter times that you check in the video.
Why does the tool say the first and last subtitles are not enough?
The Target file has one subtitle, or its first and last subtitles start at the same time. Check that you chose the right files.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser. Your subtitle file never leaves your computer.
