Why do I see double subtitles?
Often two subtitle tracks are on at once, for example one inside the video and one from your player. Turn one track off first. If the file itself repeats lines, use this tool.
How do I remove duplicate subtitles from an SRT file?
Add the file, keep Same text ticked, and click Merge duplicates. A run of subtitles with the same text becomes one subtitle that lasts from the first start to the last end.
What is the difference between Same text and Same timecodes?
Same text looks at the words and joins subtitles that are next to each other. Same timecodes looks at the times and puts the texts of subtitles with equal start and end on separate lines of one subtitle.
Does the tool check the time between repeated subtitles?
No. Subtitles with the same text merge even when there is a long pause between them. Check the result if a speaker repeats a word on purpose.
Can I undo the merge?
The tool never changes your original file. Add it again and change the options to get a different result.
