How to fix an SRT file
Add your file
Drop an SRT or VTT file on the box. The six fixes are on when the file opens.
Choose the fixes
Clear the checkbox of any fix that you do not want. Then click Fix subtitles.
Check and download
Read Changes. Each row names a cue and says what moved. If it looks right, click Download. The new file keeps your file name and format.
When to use Subtitle fixer
- The SRT validator reported overlaps and you do not want to correct them one by one.
- A player shows two subtitles at the same time.
- Some cues flash on screen for less than a second.
- A cue stays on screen for ten seconds because its end time is wrong.
- A translator sent a file with double spaces, trailing spaces, and empty cues.

Common questions
How do I fix my subtitles?
First find out what is wrong. This tool fixes errors inside the file: overlaps, tight gaps, short and long cues, spaces, and empty cues. If every subtitle is early or late, use the Subtitle shifter. If the delay grows during the video, use Fix drifting subtitles.
Why have my subtitles stopped working?
A broken file is a common cause. Add the file to the SRT validator first. A broken timecode or a cue in the wrong place needs a manual fix, because the fixer cannot guess the right time.
Does the fixer change my start times?
No. Only end times change. Each subtitle appears at the same moment as before.
What happens when a short cue has no room to grow?
The fixer leaves the cue as it is. The cue appears under Not fixed, so you can decide what to do.
Does the fixer change my line breaks?
No. Use the Line breaker to rewrap long lines. The fixer only removes extra spaces inside the lines.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser. Your subtitle file never leaves your computer.
