How to preview subtitles on a video
Add the video
Click Choose video and pick a video file from your computer.
Add the subtitles
Drop an SRT or VTT file on the second box. The player opens when you have both files.
Play and check
Press play. Clear Show subtitles to hide the text. Click Change file next to the subtitle name to try another file on the same video.
When to use Preview on video

How do I open an SRT file on a video online?
Choose your video and your SRT file on this page. The video plays with the subtitles on top. You do not install anything.
Which video files can I use?
Your browser decides. MP4 and WebM files play in most browsers. If a video does not play, convert it to MP4 and try again.
Does this add the subtitles to the video file?
No. The tool only shows the subtitles while you play. The video file does not change. To put subtitles inside a video, use a video editor or FFmpeg.
Why do I not see any subtitles?
Check that Show subtitles is on. Then check the times: a subtitle file made for a different cut of the video can start after the video ends. The SRT validator can check the file.
Why does the preview hide codes like {\an8}?
Browsers show these codes as plain text. The preview removes them, so it does not show where your player will put the text.
Can I change the font or the colour of the subtitles?
No. Your browser chooses the font, the size, and the position. Use the preview to check the words and the timing.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs in your browser. Your subtitle file never leaves your computer.
